I am a former senior partner of Linklaters with over 25 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, initial and secondary public offerings, privatisations, corporate reorganisations and other corporate advice. I have a particular interest and expertise in resources, having acted as the Managing Relationship Manager for Anglo American plc for many years, and having completed many transactions in the sector globally. Based between London, France and Portugal, I also provide insight into the UK and European market for cross-border business development and M&A.

I attended King’s College, London, and have spent a portion of my career advising US clients as a foreign temporary associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York.

  • Transactions of significance where substantial involvement can be disclosed have included:

    • Disposal of Anglo American’s Niobium and Phosphates businesses in Brazil to China Molybdenum Co. Ltd for approximately $1.7 billion

    • Disposal by Anglo American of their joint venture interests in Tarmac Middle East to Colas Moyen Orient SAS

    • Advising Anglo American on the sale of its 50% interest in Lafarge Tarmac to Lafarge

    • Advising Anglo American on the acquisition of the Oppenheimer family’s 40% interest in De Beers

    • Advising Anglo American on the disposal of its Zinc businesses

    • Advising Anglo American on the equity and debt refinancing of De Beers

    • Advising Anglo American on the disposal of Scaw Metals and its related grinding media business

    • Advising Anglo American on various sale transactions as part of its disposal of its Tarmac business

    • Advising Anglo American in relation to Xstrata’s unsolicited merger proposal

    • Advising Gem Diamonds Limited on its placing of new shares

    • Advising ONGC Videsh on its recommended takeover of Imperial Energy

    • Advising Detica on BAE Systems’ recommended takeover offer for Detica

    • Advising Hastings Funds Management on the merger of South East Water and Mid Kent Water

    • Advising Quebecor World on the disposal of its European printing operations

    • Advising Citibank on its acquisition of Egg from Prudential

    • Advising Anglo American and Mondi on the demerger of Mondi and creation and listings of a “DLC” consisting of Mondi plc (in the UK) and Mondi Limited (in South Africa)

    • Advising Detica on its acquisitions of Rubus, ma partners, Inforenz and DFI International

    • Advising Industry Funds Management on a consortium offer for Associated British Ports

    • Advising Anglo American on various joint venture arrangements for the acquisition and development of mineral resources in Russia

    • Advising Saint Gobain on its public offer for BPB

    • Advising Endeavour Ports, a consortium led by Industry Funds Management, on its public offer for PD Ports

    • Advising Tarmac on its public offer for Johnston Group

    • Advising BP on its sale, jointly with Rio Tinto, of 100% of the interests in PT Kaltim Prima Coal to PT Bumi Resources

    • Advising Anglo American on the acquisition of 100% of the interests in Compañía Minera Disputada de Las Condes Limitada from affiliates of Exxon Mobil Corporation

    • Advising CMG on its merger with Logica

    • Advising Anglo American on the disposal of its interests in Tati Nickel and BCL

    • Advising BNP Paribas on its acquisition of the fund administration businesses of AMP

    • Advising Detica on its IPO

    • Advising BP in relation to its acquisitions of strategic investments in Joint Stock Company Sidanco (and, subsequently, BP-TNK) and its related joint venture arrangements

    • Advising Anglo American on its US$1.1 billion convertible bond issue

    • Advising Anglo American on the “take private” of De Beers

    • Advising BT on the acquisition by it of the 40% interest in BT Cellnet (now “O2”) previously owned by Securicor

    • Advising National Power on its demerger of Innogy

    • Advising CMG on its public offer for Admiral

    • Advising Anglo American on its formation through the merger of Anglo American Corporation of South Africa and Minorco and on its flotation on the London Stock Exchange
